As Jan said: "You're going to get one anyway - you might as well go ahead and get it now".
So I did. It activated in about 2 minutes. I didn't have the problems that some had reported. Syncing everything else up (photos, songs, emails, bookmarks etc) is taking a while. The first upload of all my media seems like about an hour long project - BUT deciding which photos and songs to upload may be what's taking the longest.
