Arizona Morning

I flew to Phoenix yesterday for the race this weekend. It's my first race 'out west'. I'm excited to work it but I don't enjoy the long flights - guess I'm getting old.

Jan and I have passed through here many times in the last 20 years, but never stopped, so I'm looking forward to being here and checking out the area a bit.

The photo above is taken off the balcony at my room this morning.

P.S. I'll write a synopsis of the sailing trip in a day or so.

Rodriquez Key

We sailed all night and it was a great sail. It started out kinda
rough and rolly but by the time we got to Miami it was very nice.
Navigating Hawk Channel in the dark was challenging but very doable
with the chartplotter/radar/autohelm combination. Got to Key largo
before dawn and anchored in the lee of Rodriquez Key. I plan to be in
Largo Sound by mid-day.

Finally offshore

The winds have backed off to 15 knots or so and we're out in 4 foot
seas. It's a bit rolly but not too bad. We're going to sail all night
and arrive at key largo at sun-up.
Our biggest challenge right now is to not go too fast and get there
before sunrise.
