This IS Los Angeles after all......

I was out in the field getting all of our stuff ready for the broadcast today when I drove my golf cart past a guy who looked familiar. Immediately after passing him, I recognized him - stopped and walked over and introduced myself as a fan of his show.

His name is Greg Grunberg and he plays one of the main characters on NBC's Heros. After a minute or so of pleasantries, I asked his son to take our photo.

I generally see a lot of 'famous' people - mostly connected to racing - in this job and I've decided if it doesn't interfere with their activities to go ahead and ask for a photo with them. 'B' stars don't mind that kind of thing. 'A' stars - like last week's Tom Cruise just are too good for it.

Fontana

I'm in Fontana California for this week's race. The weather is nice now even though it was raining when I arrived here yesterday. There's snow on the peaks to the north and east of us. The photo above is taken on the roof with Cucamonga Peak in the background.

Off to California

I'm headed to Fontana California for this weekend's race. It's my first time at this race track. Should be a good trip. It is hard to get back into the 'travel groove. though.

Race Day

It's been raining a little this morning and it's not looking good for race time. We really hate rain on race day. Everyone spends 5 hours getting ready just in case it doesn't rain out and then if it rains - we sit around for hours waiting on them to decide if we should stick around for even more hours in case it quits raining.

Then, if it quits raining, they take the big dryers out on the track and spend about an hour trying to dry the tack. Then it usually starts raining again and wets down the entire track. After 12 hours, we'll usually leave and have to come back on the next day - that we were scheduled to fly home after working 6 days - and do it all again. So, obviously, we don't like rain on race day.

Regarding the photo above, while I was out at the cameras today, Tom Cruise was hanging out with Hendrick and a Car of Tomorrow version of the car he drove in 'Days of Thunder'. I took this photo of him, but was able to find a security officer to keep him from coming over to have his photo taken with me.
